International Day of Action for Rivers
Join us to celebrate International Day of Action for Rivers on March 14, 2016!
March 14 is the annual International Day of Action for Rivers and Against Dams.
Every year, thousands of people around the world lift their voices to celebrate the world's rivers and those who struggle to protect them. The International Day of Action for Rivers is a day to celebrate victories such as dam removal and river restoration. It is a day to take to the streets, demonstrate and demand improvements in the policies and practices of decision makers. It is a day to educate one another about the threats facing our rivers, and learn about better water and energy solutions. Above all, it is a day to unite – by acting together, we demonstrate that these issues are not merely local, but global in scope.

International Day of Action for Rivers 2016
March 14, 2016 will mark the 19th Annual Day of Action for Rivers!
Every year on March 14, hundreds of communities around the world hold events to celebrate their rivers and educate the world about the importance of healthy, vibrant rivers. By gathering our voices together, we send a powerful message: This world is full of people who are working to revive and protect their rivers from pollution and corporate control. By sharing our stories as one community, we gain visibility, power and hope.
19th Annual International Day of Action for Rivers
Dear friends,
Just a reminder that we are nearly a month away from the 19th Annual International Day of Action for Rivers! Please encourage your community to show support for healthy rivers and the communities that depend on them. Together, we can ensure that March 14 is a successful day of hope and celebration for vibrant, dynamic rivers.
If you’ve planned an event, don’t forget to register it! We’ve already heard from groups in South Africa, Colombia, and Indonesia and we’re expecting many more to come.
This year we are also launching our new project “Let the Rivers Sing” to celebrate river-inspired art from across the world. Send us videos and recordings of your community or group performing original river and water songs. All forms of music, poetry, and performance are welcome.
